Back home!

2012 was an amazing year and took me to some places I never thought I would see. It is all over and I am back in Vancouver, Canada. I started working the day after I got off the plane. Working with some familiar faces again and posing away at dhx media as a layout artist. I feel very fortunate to be working at another great studio.

Working in Auckland!

I am all settled in Auckland, New Zealand and I started work last week at Flux. The studio has loads of talented people and create awesome stuff. I feel really lucky to be working there.

Freelance job with Robot and Pencils!

I got the chance to do a little bit of work with Robot and Pencils. They specialize in making games mainly for iphones and ipads. I hope I will get to do some more stuff with them in the future. It was nice to reconnect with an old co-worker and friend from Glue Solution with Phillip Wheaton. Thanks Phil!

Model

This is an independent study that I was working on while at the University of Lethbridge with Professor Jim Wills. There are a few more tweaks to the model of the Fort Steel Brewery before its completion as well as the final coats of paint. I will be posting something in the near future of the finished model.

Dragon Boat

Last Gasp 2010 : photographer unknown

Dragon Boat season is well underway and I am glad to be a part of Riptide this time for a full season. Last year I thought I would give Dragon Boat a try and started three quarters of the way into it. With a late start and being new I didn’t know if I was going to be up for it this year, but at the end of last season I was fortunate to race in Last Gasp and after that I was hooked.

I just got to do a brief contract at Global Mechanic! I was very excited to work with them it is a great atmosphere and humbling being at a place that produces such amazing stuff. I worked on some design revisions, for a show that will be coming out soon, and got to design some assets for a Bank of America spot. All and all good times had by me!

My first contract working as an animator has come to an end. I have been working at Big Bad Boo Studios for the past four months. I started as a revisionist then dove into animation. It feels like a weight has been lifted to get that first contract done. It was very difficult for me but I powered my way through with the help from some great people. I ended up doing very well by the end. I would like to leave you with a quote from the greatest.
